Caught making nearly 1,000 personal Flock searches, former police now say they weren’t trained

They admit the searches were personal. The city says that alone was a breach of public trust. According to WJCL 22, three former Savannah Police Department employees are appealing their firings after being tied to nearly 1,000 personal Flock searches involving exes, romantic partners and other personal relationships. Their defense is that they werenโ€™t properly trained on Flockโ€™s rules and that discipline was applied inconsistently. But city and police officials argued employees already knew department systems were for legitimate law-enforcement purposes only โ€” and said using that access for personal reasons represented a violation of public trust. The Civil Service Board is expected to issue a recommendation within 7โ€“10 business days before the city manager makes the final decision.
