A Senate hearing took an unexpected turn after Sen. Eric Schmitt appeared to confuse the Atlanta Hawks with Iowa women’s basketball while questioning former special counsel Jack Smith about his whereabouts during the Georgia election case. Sen. Amy Klobuchar pointed out that the game Smith attended was actually in Maryland, not Atlanta, and said Schmitt should apologize for using the apparent mix-up to suggest Smith was in Georgia and involved in events there before calling him a “dirtbag.”
