Georgia Rep. Ruwa Romman confronted Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson over a campaign ad that opened with Jackson saying he did not care whether someone was “a Muslim or a Mongolian” and that they had no right to “force” their culture on the country. Romman, Georgia’s first Muslim woman state lawmaker, pressed Jackson directly about the message as he moved through the crowd. The same ad went on to promise that undocumented immigrants who commit violent crimes would end up “deported or departed.” Jackson has since said that he stands by the ad.
