Ross exposes booming business for private ICE prison giant CoreCivic


North Carolina Rep. Deborah Ross questioned the use of taxpayer dollars to house immigrants in privately operated detention centers. She says the government can pay $150 to $200 per detainee per day while companies like CoreCivic profit from the system. Ross pointed to an August oversight visit she made with other members of Congress to CoreCivicโ€™s Stewart Detention Center in Georgia, where lawmakers described inadequate medical care and unsanitary conditions.
