Pramila Jayapal led a five-member congressional delegation into Georgia’s Stewart Detention Center, a private ICE facility run by for-profit prison company CoreCivic and holding more than 1,900 people. After speaking with detainees — including people she says have been held for as long as two years — Jayapal pointed to reports of medical abuse, inadequate food and clean water and called for the facility to be shut down.
