DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin says the Trump administration backed away from plans to turn a warehouse in Social Circle, Georgia, into one of the nationโs largest ICE detention centers because it “did not fit the communityโs needs.” The proposed facility could have held up to 10,000 detainees, roughly twice the cityโs population. Local officials and residents opposed the project over concerns about water, sewer capacity, emergency services and the lack of communication from federal officials.
